Title
Yau Ni Viti IV - version2
Artist
Maria Rova
Medium
Painting - Dyes On Silk
Description
This artwork is part of a hand-painted, numbered Limited Edition Original series each one an authentic silk painting on pure Habotai silk. To commission one of the paintings in this series, e-mail the artist using the link above. The vibrant colors of the silk dye and metallic gold resist that I use are simply hard to achieve in any other medium!
Heliconias in all their vibrant shades are one of my favourite tropical flowers. Also featured here are traditional Fijian earthenware pots, similar to those pieced together at ancient archaeological sites where pottery shards left by the Lapita people who first migrated to the Fiji Islands provide clues to the history of our beautiful islands. The woven palm leaf tray and the conch shell, used as a trumpet during ceremonial events, are also of special significance to Fijian people.
