Our throw pillows are made from 100% spun polyester poplin fabric and add a stylish statement to any room. Pillows are available in sizes from 14" x 14" up to 26" x 26". Each pillow is printed on both sides (same image) and includes a concealed zipper and removable insert (if selected) for easy cleaning.

Artist's Description

This artwork is part of a hand-painted, numbered Limited Edition Original series � each one an authentic silk painting on pure Habotai silk. To commission one of the paintings in this series, e-mail the artist using the link above. The vibrant colors of the silk dye and metallic gold resist that I use are simply hard to achieve in any other medium!
Heliconias in all their vibrant shades are one of my favourite tropical flowers. Also featured here are traditional Fijian earthenware pots, similar to those pieced together at ancient archaeological sites where pottery shards left by the Lapita people who first migrated to the Fiji Islands provide clues to the history of our beautiful islands. The woven palm leaf tray and the conch shell, used as a trumpet during ceremonial events, are also of special significance to Fijian people.

The Fiji Islands are my home, and source of inspiration, as I use dyes, paint, barkcloth, sand, silk and cement to respond in my own creative way to the challenges, tension, and beauty of life in a developing Pacific island nation. Sea changes can have surprising effects: since leaving behind all that was familiar in my American/German upbringing, to build a life here in my husband’s homeland two decades ago, my art has taken on dynamism of its own… My work is awash with the intense, vibrant colors of the tropics, and my themes are often an exploration of Fiji’s stunning natural environment and rich cultural heritage.
