Artist's Description
This silk painting features the mountainous landscape, coast, and wildlife of northern Viti Levu in Fiji. The title refers to the crystal waters that flow through this rough, but fertile terrain. A traditional clay water jar and corded whales tooth, symbol of great esteem in Fijian culture, are features of this composition, as are the roots of the kava plant, and a coconut shell of kava, offered up in welcoming.
