Product Details

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Artist's Description

Used for ceremonial purposes as well as for eating, sleeping and sitting on, hand-woven pandanus mats that are central to life in every Fijian household. A gathering of friends and neighbours on a mat of an evening may give rise to a spontaneous �sigidrigi� or informal folk singing session, accompanied by ukuleles and guitars. Between the songs, stories are told and ideas discussed. This painting celebrates the creative spirit of such occasions.

The Fiji Islands are my home, and source of inspiration, as I use dyes, paint, barkcloth, sand, silk and cement to respond in my own creative way to the challenges, tension, and beauty of life in a developing Pacific island nation. Sea changes can have surprising effects: since leaving behind all that was familiar in my American/German upbringing, to build a life here in my husband’s homeland two decades ago, my art has taken on dynamism of its own… My work is awash with the intense, vibrant colors of the tropics, and my themes are often an exploration of Fiji’s stunning natural environment and rich cultural heritage.
